8月24日から30日まで、第23回国際宗教学宗教史学会（International Association for the History of Religions World Congress）がポーランドのヤギェウオ大学で開催され、天理大学から5名が参加しました。大会期間中、世界各国から1500名以上の参加者があり、各パネルでは白熱した議論が行われました。
発表者について以下の通りです。
・澤井義次名誉教授 ”The Kagura Service and Its Significance in Tenrikyo”（パネル：Reenactment/Repetition Across Contexts, Fields, Media, and Times I）
・岡田正彦教授 "Calender and Buddhism in Japan"（パネル名（代表者）：Calendar and Religion in the Japanese Religious Tradition ：Buddhism, Shintoism, and Onmyōdō）
・堀内みどり教授 ”The Case of a Female Founder: An Examination on the Faith of Tenrikyo Followers Who Refer to Their Foundress as “Oyasama (Parent)”（パネル：The religious and the feminine in East Asia）
・澤井真准教授 “Sufism as Ties in Today’s World: Gender Equality and the Reformation of Spirituality in Islamic Tradition”（パネル名（代表者）：Continuity or Transformation of Religious Tradition? Orthodoxy and Authority in Sufism）
・山川仁非常勤講師 ”The Ontological Status of Theological Concepts in Berkeley's Immaterialism”（ パネル名（代表者）：Bishop Berkeley's Theology, His Attitudes to Freemasonry, Confucianism, and Mysteries） 同学会は5年ごとに開催されており、日本では過去に2度東京で開催されていますが、天理大学や天理教内の教会施設が会議運営をサポートしてきました。
