Tutor System

English translation in progress. Thank you for waiting.

Purpose

This is a program in which Tenri University students assist international students with their Japanese language studies and daily life so that they can lead a fulfilling study abroad experience. For the students who serve as tutors, they not only are able to make use of their language skills, but also gain valuable experience in cross-cultural exchange.
This program allows students to acquire the Tenri Spirit of "selfless service to others" while growing as individuals with a rich international perspective.

What is a tutor?

The word “tutor” can mean a private tutor or assistant instructor. Literally speaking, a tutor for an international student is “an assistant who provides personal support for the student’s studies.” In addition to this role as a tutor, tutors of the Tenri University Tutor System also play a role in supporting international students in their daily lives.

Tutor Application Requirements

Tenri University students are eligible to apply to become tutors for international students.
There are no specific foreign language proficiency requirements, but students who are learning the native language of the international students or who can communicate in English are likely to provide more efficient support activities. For more information, please ask at the Office of International Exchange Center.

Since the purpose of this program is to support first-time international students in Japan so that they can start their study in Japan smoothly, in principle, the program is open to first-time international students (short-term and undergraduate students).

Twice a year, in February and July, before international students arrive in Japan, we will
recruit tutors on the bulletin board of Campus Square. Please read the attached “Tutor Manual” and submit the “Tutor Registration Form.” (Forms can be submitted by e-mail or in
