TENRIKYO
Tenrikyo came into existence on October 26, 1838, when God the
Parent, Tenri-O-no-Mikoto, was revealed through the Foundress, Miki
Nakayama. The Foundress made clear the purpose of human existence
and the creation of all humankind and the world. According to the
teachings of Tenrikyo, God the Parent created human beings in order
to see them lead the Joyous Life and share in that joy. Thus, we
are all the children of God the Parent. In other words, we are all
brothers and sisters. We are taught to help one another and strive
to realize the world of the Joyous Life in appreciation of divine
protection in our daily life.
Tenrikyo has spread throughout Japan and also to various countries
around the world. At present, there are about two million followers
and more than 17,000 churches. Moreover, churches and mission centers
have been established in about 30 countries around the world.
