The Faculty was established in 1955 and since thne,it has been
encouraging its students who can play a leading role in society
through sports. For many years, under the guidance of exceptionally
capable staff, and with the use of extensive facilities, many leading
athletes, including Japanese national champions or representatives,
have been produced.
The Faculty conducts education and research in physical education,
and in sports and health theories and techniques. It also aims to
educate promising athletes who can promote international goodwill
through their sports activities.
In 1992, the Faculty was reformed and expanded into three coursesÅ|Sports,
Budo, and Health StudiesÅ|for the purpose of meeting the needs
of society and for developing talented people who are able to guide
sports activities and advise people with health problems.

The aim of this Course is to educate promising athletes and sports
leaders with extensive knowledge and advanced skills in their respective
specialized field of sports. Students are required to take, as the
reguired subjects common to the three Courses, theory of psychosomatic
relationship, movement theory, physical fitness, anatomy, and physiology.
Students will be trained in sport sociology, sport pedagogy, and
sport psychology thoroughly in their sport specialities in order
to reach a high standard of coaching in sports.

The goal of this Course is to educate people who will be able to
have a deeper understanding of Judo and Kendo, as part of Japanese
traditional culture. Students will be challenged to contribute to
the development of Budo as an integral part of international sports.
They are also expected to play a role of promoting international
friendship by participating in the international games or guiding
foreign people.
Students are required to take, besides the above mentioned
five common obligatory subjects, the theory and the history of Budo
as their major. They are trained to develop their practical skills
under the staff guidance. They are expected to be leaders of Budo
in the future with a wide command of sports knowledge.

This Course aims to raise people who will devote themselves to
the promotion of sport development in terms of health with their
deep knowledge of sports and health.
After the mastery of the above mentioned five mandatory subjects,
students are to study sports medicine, sports nutrition, hygiene,
health administration, and theory of exercise prescription. These
subjects provide students with professional knowledge for health
sustenance and improvement through exercise and sports. Students
are also trained to develop their athletic skills through practical
training.
